What to Do With Garage Storage Shelves
Garage storage shelves are one of my favorite ways to organize a garage. Probably because I like to see everything that is in my garage. I have a hard time with cabinets because it is too easy to forget what is in them, especially if it is something that you do not use very often. So you have all of these great shelves in your garage, now the question is how do you use them effectively?
Planning and labeling are a great place to start. If you already have shelves in your garage that are chock full of things but you cannot find anything, take everything off of your shelves. If you just put up new shelves, do not put anything on them until you have a plan in place.
It is best to figure out how you want things organized before you put anything on the shelves. Do you want things organized by type, by use, or some other way? Think about what you have and where it would best fit on the garage storage shelves. Those things that you do not need often should go up on the higher shelves or in the harder to reach areas.
Once you know how you want things organized, then label the shelves to make it even easier to find things. Be sure that they are sturdy labels and ones that are laminated or in a plastic sleeve so that the dirt in the garage does not get all over them and make them impossible to read.
